1. Hicks graduated from BU COM in 1992.
2. He is a war photographer for The New York Times.
3. He won the Pulitzer Prize in 2009 for his coverage of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
4. In March 2011 Hicks and 3 other Times reporters were held captive by the Libyan government for 5 days.
5. On Feb. 16, 2012 Hicks was with the Times reporter, Anthony Shadid, at the time of his death and carried his body from Syria to Turkey.
